Abdulsalam seeks God’s intervention to end insecurity

By Justina Asishana, Minna

Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has beseeched God to touch the hearts of bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other criminals so that they can denounce their evil businesses.

He urged bandits and kidnappers to embrace peace so that Nigeria could enjoy political and economic stability again.

The former military leader advised Nigerians to remain peaceful and orderly and report acts of insecurity to security agencies.

Also, Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello called for prayers for security agencies to effectively tackle the current security challenges in the land.

The duo, alongside former Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, addressed reporters yesterday after observing the two-rakaat prayers for Eid-el-Kabir at Minna, the state capital’s prayer ground.

Sani Bello noted that prayers for security agencies would enable them to apply divine wisdom to deal with the challenges bedeviling the country.

The governor also called for patience among the people, saying the government was doing its best to overcome the challenges.

Aliyu advised leaders at all levels to come up with deliberate policy that would help to reduce the current hardship on many Nigerians.

He noted that the support the people gave to the government and security agencies would help them to achieve maximum results in combating insecurity.
