Nigeria’s Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen have been shortlisted in a 10-man list for African young player of the year.
In a list released by CAF, the two players were nominated alongside eight other African stars with Borussia Dortmund and Morocco star Achraf Hakimi topping the list.
The CAF African Young Player of the Year category recognizes the best young player from Africa in the year under review, in this case, 2019.
Chukwueze and Osimhen have been in top form for their clubs Villarreal and Lille this season.
Osimhen has found the back of the net eight times already this season in the French Ligue 1 and has scored two Champions League goals.
While Chukwueze has scored two league goals this season and has assisted one other in the Spanish La Liga.
Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo, Wilfred Ndidi, and Victor Osimhen have been shortlisted in a 30-man list for African player of the year.
In a list released by CAF, the three players were nominated alongside 27 other African stars with Man City’s Riyad Mahrez and Liverpool duo Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane topping the list.
