Orji Uzor Kalu

Ahead of the nation’s 2023 general elections, a group, “Abia North Stakeholders Assembly (ANSA) has called on the former governor of the state and Senate whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu to beware of deserters who have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the singular purpose of contesting for elective positions.

This is just as the group has also advised a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state Kalu Umeh to drop his governorship ambition forthwith.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri the Imo State capital, the group noted that the recent recognition of Senator Kalu as the political patriarch of the state by Kalu Umeh was a veiled plot to realize his ambition to govern the state.

The group, through her president general Chief Goodluck Ibem and publicity Secretary Sunday Chukwu, faulted a claim by Kalu Umeh of being an introvert, arguing that introverts among other attributes are known to be withdrawn and recluse unlike Kalu Umeh himself.

“Is it with such personality and credential that Umeh sees himself fit and marketable for the Abia top job? Abia deserves more, better and it should be one who reaches out to her diverse humans in building a sound state truly “God’s own’ in the real sense of the title.”

The stakeholders who delved into previous positions held by kalu Umeh in the state wondered why he did not pitch tent with the Senator Orji Uzor Kalu Political divide but stuck with Senator T.A Orji when the relationship between the two politicians went sour.

The group warned Kalu Umeh to desist from casting aspersons on the speaker of the state House of Assembly Hon. Chinedum Orji for his visit to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu who, not too long ago returned from detention after six months of incarceration, stating that the visit was not one in a coven or a clandestine kind but one knowledge of which is in the public domain.

“What Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji said to him was that as a former governor and a leader in Abia, he should come home and assume his position as one of the leaders in Abia to move the state forward instead of all the petitions and counter petitions that have become the norm in today’s Abia politics,” the statement reads.
