A video of how a man and his driver were rescued from the hands of kidnappers on a highway by security operatives have emerged.
The video was shared on Twitter by a Nigerian on Sunday, February 14 using the handle @Favbreed1.
The video showed a damaged Mercedes Benz SUV parked on the side of the road while security operatives with their guns discuss the incident.
The person recording, a policeman, went over to the other side of the road and asked the occupants of the car a few questions.
The owner of the car identified himself as Onyekachi Ugo, 43, from Item in Bende local government area of Abia state.
He said they were traveling from Enugu state to Abia when the suspected kidnappers emerged from the bush.
His driver who introduced himself as Innocent Anibata, 38, was also interviewed, adding:
“Thank God, you people rescued us.”
In a related development, three Chinese expatriates were kidnapped in Akere village in Atakunmosa West of Osun state earlier this month.
During the incident, a policeman attached to the Chinese was killed by the attackers.
The corps commander of Amotekun in the state, General Bashir Adewinbi also confirmed the incident.
The app was launched as a measure to ensure police arrive quickly at crime scenes anywhere in the country.
The newly-launched app is available on Android PlayStore and Apple AppStore for download.
A major feature of the app is that a user can press an emergency alert button that automatically goes to the Nigeria Police Force control tower and they can swing to action.
