– Sunday Igboho has denied saying he will fight Boko Haram in their Sambisa hideouts
– The self-acclaimed Yoruba youth leader and activist described the report as a fabrication
– Igboho said his priority is the security of lives and properties of Southwest people and Yoruba race
Sunday Adeyemo, a self-styled Yoruba activist better known as Sunday Igboho, said his concern is to liberate the Yoruba race from the grip of Fulani herders’ rising dominance in the southwest.
Igboho made his position known amid various media reports linking him with a statement which he was said to have boasted that he would defeat Boo Haram in Sambisa forest if given a chance and moral support by the government.
The politician-turned businessman denied saying he can tackle the dreaded insurgent group, saying the media report in that regard is a mere fabrication.
According to him, his only interest is the security of lives and properties of every man from a Yoruba race.
While bemoaning the herdsmen’s continued perpetration of different heinous crimes, Igboho urged governors and leaders of the southwest region to live up to the security challenges.
He also expressed displeasure over the federal government’s handling of the crisis, saying the gesture of Presiden Muhammadu Buhari has left a feeling of disappointment on the land.
He also charged governments across the three tiers to expedite all planned actions to secure lives and properties of Nigerians, saying the country is in dire need of rescue from its mounting security woes.
Igboho thanks Yoruba leaders
Meanwhile, the Yoruba activist has extended a note of gratitude to prominent southwest leaders including monarchs and political statesmen.
Igboho, who spoke in a now-viral video, said he is indebted to people like Dele Momodu, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former governor Ayodele Fayose and former president Olusegun Obasanjo for speaking up against his arrest.
Also, notable among those he mentioned in his appreciation remark are Chief Alao Akala (former Oyo state governor), renowned writer, poet and critic Professor Wole Soyinka.
