A delegation of Nkata Ndi Inyom Igbo (NNII) has paid condolence visits to two civil and gender rights activists, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin and Josephine Chukwuma, widows to late renowned civil society activists, Messrs. Yinka Odumakin who was Afenifere spokesman and Mr. Innocent C. Chukwuma, a civil rights activist.
The President General, Nkata Ndi Inyom Igbo and former Minister of Women Affairs, Iyom Josephine Anenih as well as the delegates commiserated with the families of the deceased.
Mrs. Ify Akerele prayed the Almighty God repose the souls of the departed and comfort the bereaved families.
Members of the delegation: Ify Akerele, Barr. Mrs. Oby Anubi, Barr. Mrs Joy Chiori, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Chinwe Mogo, Ms. Ego Nwokocha, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika and Princess Adaeze Nwankwo expressed grief Nigeria lost two giants of the civil society family.
Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin shared memories of life with her late husband while informing the delegation that the body will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 24 2021.
Mrs. Chukwuma expressed pleasure at Nkata’s kind gesture as she shared with them some of her late husband’s dreams and aspirations for humanity while promising to share the burial date as soon as it is confirmed.
NNII assured the widows of the group’s unwavering commitment towards partnering for development and their willingness to collaborate in advancing the cause of gender and human rights and justice.
